Anna Clyne, who was born in England and now lives in the USA, is one of the most sought-after composers of today. For their work “Dance” for cello and orchestra, which premiered in 2019, they were inspired by five lines from the 13th century Persian poet Rumi. The extremely touching work will be in the best hands with Jan Vogler – the soloist this evening. Edward Elgar's "Enigma Variations" are characterized by fourteen character images, with which the British composer musically described people close to him - from his wife Alice to a self-portrait that concludes the piece. The concert in the Palace of Culture opens with one of Franz Liszt's wonderful "Hungarian Rhapsodies." – A program tailor-made for the traditional London Philharmonia Orchestra under its charismatic Finnish chief conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
