Sting – composer, singer, author, actor and activist – is one of the most famous and distinctive artists in the world. Over the course of his career, he received seventeen Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and was nominated for an Oscar three times. He also sold nearly 100 million albums with The Police and as a solo artist. In 2003, Queen Elizabeth II awarded him the Order of Commander of the British Empire for his many services to music. He has been inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, appeared in more than fifteen films, and authored two books, including his autobiography, Broken Music. On his latest album, “The Bridge,” the musician combines bridges in a variety of ways. Sting's support of human rights organizations reflects his universal commitment. Together with his wife Trudie Styler, he founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989 to protect both the world's rainforests and the indigenous populations there. After the concerts already planned for 2020 and 2021 unfortunately could not take place, it is a special honor for the music festival to finally be able to welcome the great and versatile British artist to this year's festival season.
