Simon Oslender should be no stranger to the festival audience. He has already appeared here twice with Nils Landgren and is now returning to Dresden as part of the “Young Jazz in the Central Works” series. The man in his mid-twenties, who started his professional career at the age of twelve, is one of the shooting stars of the jazz scene and plays with the greats of his field such as Wolfgang Haffner, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, Steve Gadd, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Thomas Quasthoff, the WDR Big Band and Max Mutzke on stage and in the studio. Together with his gifted trio colleagues Claus Fischer on bass and Hendrik Smock on drums, the pianist and keyboarder gives an atmospheric, grooving sample of his skills.
