Carmen

Ballet in two acts

The ballet »Carmen« by the Swedish star choreographer Johan Inger fits seamlessly into the tradition of the great Carmen interpretations from John Cranko to Mats Ek to Carlos Acosta. From the perspective of a child, Johan Inger tells the love tragedy about Carmen, Don José and the torero full of passion, jealousy, revenge and hatred in gripping, clear images. Johan Inger created »Carmen« in 2015 for the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid to music by Georges Bizet, Rodion Schchedrin and new compositions by the Spaniard Marc Álvarez. In 2016, the choreographer received the Prix Benois de la Danse in Moscow, the »Oscar« of the ballet world, for his first full-length ballet.
