Igor Levit, who is celebrated on the international stage like Alfred Brendel once was, is not only one of the great pianists, but at the same time an artist who deals with the events behind the horizon and takes part in the relevant debates. For his social commitment, he received the “International Beethoven Prize” in 2019 and the “Carl von Ossietzky Prize” in 2022. The list of high-ranking music awards that the pianist, who was born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987 and moved to Germany with his family at the age of eight, was able to collect over the course of his meteoric career is even more extensive. With two brilliant piano versions of Mahler's and Beethoven's symphonies as well as Hindemith's memorable suite "1922", the artist, who is celebrated worldwide for his performances, is finally making his music festival debut.
