While the exceptional Catalan musician and visionary of historical performance practice Jordi Savall was able to inspire with Beethoven's "Missa solemnis" last festival season, this time he and his ensembles - La Capella Nacional de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations - are at the Palace of Culture with another key classical work to experience: “The Seasons” by Joseph Haydn. In this oratorio, which is divided into four parts according to the seasonal cycle, the life of people in the cycle of nature is depicted, and Haydn draws on the full range of tonal painting. Even though he still uses formal elements from his predecessor "The Creation", the Viennese classic finds a refreshingly creative tonal language in his later work. The tonal transparency and colorful expressiveness highly praised on Savall's recording of "The Creation" will also shine through in every note of the performance of "The Seasons."
