The jazz singer Jane Monheit, born in Oakdale, New York in 1977, attracted attention early on with her distinctive and engaging art. While still a student at the Manhattan School of Music, the then twenty-year-old took second place in the renowned Thelonious Monk Institute singing competition, followed two years later by the highly acclaimed debut album “Never Never Land”. Since then she has been one of the vocal stars of jazz, has presented twelve recordings that have been nominated for a Grammy several times and has appeared on the world's major stages. With her warm and full voice and her fascinating stage presence, Monheit is the ideal artist for the unique ambience of the Parkhotel ballroom.
