Several works by contemporary composers are dedicated to him or have been commissioned by him (e.g. by Tomas Marco, Rainer Bischof, Walter Baer, Georghi Arnaoudov, Francois-Pierre Descamps, Alessandro Solbiati).

Source research on Niccolo Paganini is a focus of his scientific and artistic work. Hossen plays all concerts exclusively on his preferred Vision Titanium solo strings from the Viennese company Thomastik-Infeld. Prof. Dr. Mario Hossen is the artistic director of the IMF "Varna Summer" and founder of the International Orpheus Summer Academy in Vienna. He plays a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1749, on loan from the collection of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank.

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1946 and has established itself as one of the world's leading chamber orchestras in the more than 70 years of its existence. The former chief conductor Carlo Zecchi and guest conductors such as Yehudi Menuhin and Sándor Végh were very special and formative partners of the orchestra.
