Wege der Romantik

Promoted by Robert Schumann in his youth, Johannes Brahms did not want to continue composing after the completion of his string quintet Opus 111. Fortunately, his late acquaintance with the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld, we owe the repossession of this decision and the creation of some of the most beautiful chamber music compositions with clarinet. A great admirer of Brahms was Arnold Schönberg. Only two years after his death he composed his highly emotional string sextet "Verklärte Nacht", inspired by the eponymous poem by Richard Dehmel.
