Vogler – Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg – Nagano

To get in the mood for this year's festival, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and its chief conductor Kent Nagano are offering a musically complex concert evening in line with the motto »BLACK & WHITE«. In the first part of the program, the orchestra from Dresden's sister city brings a symphony to the podium with Beethoven's Eighth, which is always a little overshadowed by its titanic sisters Nos. 7 and 9 and yet captivates with its originality and humor. This will be followed by the performance of »On a Clear Day«, a new work by the American Sean Shepherd to texts by the poetry master Ulla Hahn, which will premiere on April 22, 2023 in New York's Carnegie Hall. then make a stop in Hamburg and finally be presented to the festival audience in Dresden.
