Violin recital Eldborg Hemsing
Even though the violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing, who was born in Norway in 1990, has long been successful on the international concert stage, her art is characterized by a strong connection to her homeland. Her love of Nordic music is not only reflected in her choice of repertoire: since 2013, she has been organizing the Hemsing Festival together with her sister Ragnhild in her hometown. The musician has now released four albums, including her highly praised Sony Classical debut “Arctic” in February 2023, which is dedicated to the musical horizons of the Arctic with works by contemporary composers. For her concert in the Palais im Großer Garten, where she will be accompanied by the Russian pianist Alexei Volodin, Hemsing travels musically to warmer climes. In addition to two virtuoso classics of duo literature, Fauré's Violin Sonata No. 1 and Ravel's "Tzigane", as well as Szymanowski's impressionistic-looking "Mythes", there is of course also a work by her compatriot Edvard Grieg on the program: the radiantly cheerful Second Violin Sonata, composed during his honeymoon.
