TREPLYOV: We need new forms, namely in the theater, in politics, in coexistence and in love.
That's how it lies there, the lake of dead souls over which the seagulls circle, freely above the people who are bored and don't love, above the artists who have fallen into routine and done nothing politically against the autocratic tsar - for centuries again - and then plunge into misfortune, become desolate like the world:
She lies there lifeless, cold, no people, no artists, no lovers.
Only Nina and Kostja enter the cosmic storm of the world's soul, struggle for visions, search for new forms, plunge into the battle of the generations, dare to rebel against the established theater and narrow-minded literature, diva-like mothers, greedy fathers, cynical celebrities and mediocre failures.
And then a seagull is shot, and Anton Chekhov's crazy comic-tragic human kaleidoscope explodes - like the world. And people are tumbling towards the abyss.
