Bouncing flea
The Hawaiians described the Cavaquinho, the Portuguese immigrant João Fernandez showed them in 1879, as a "bouncing flea" and soon they began recreating it. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, in its current line-up of an octet of ukuleles in various registers, was originally founded in 1985 for a one-time appearance, but has since grown into European, American and Asian audiences and, not least, through its numerous television appearances worldwide to millions excited. The formation shies away from any musical fun and uses with Tchaikovsky as well as with Isaac Hayes, David Bowie or Kate Bush to win tunes for his typical Hawaiian sound.
