Tannhäuser - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Tannhäuser

Romantic opera in three acts

Synopsis:
It's about nothing less than love.
It's what the Wartburg Singers' Society is asking for, and it's what Tannhäuser is also searching for: He finds seemingly endless pleasure with the goddess of love, Venus, and hopes to achieve bliss with the "pure" Elisabeth. In his lurching between satisfaction and renunciation, between guilt and protest, in his being torn between fulfillment and exaltation, he fully conforms to the grammar of the Romantic era – and still speaks directly to us today.
