Requiem - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Requiem

In the Verdi Requiem, hear the Italian opera composer as a brilliant church musician. The apocalypse has never sounded more beautiful than in the famous "Dies Irae".

On the first anniversary of the death of his friend, the writer Alessandro Manzoni, Giuseppe Verdi composed his most important work outside of his immense operatic output, the "Messa da Requiem". It was not originally written for liturgical use, but for a purely concert performance. This composition is a summary of everything that Verdi had already written in his operas, and yet goes far beyond that. As a master of his craft, Verdi knows how to express humility before the majesty of death and the hope for redemption in a magnificent way.

Get a sound impression of this masterpiece in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral with the Vienna Cathedral Choir and Vienna Cathedral Orchestra under the direction of Cathedral Music Director Markus Landerer and well-known soloists.
