Listen to the traditional Mozart Requiem before All Saints' Day in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral!
W. A. Mozart's Requiem is one of the best and most moving classical music has to offer. The myths surrounding Mozart's final composition contribute to the incredible appeal of this masterpiece. The Requiem contains the strong emotions that affect people in the face of death: fear, anger, despair, sadness, hope, consolation.
Mozart's connection to St. Stephen's Cathedral is known worldwide. Mozart married his wife Konstanze in St. Stephen's Cathedral and two of his children were baptized here. After his death, he was laid out in the cathedral to say goodbye before being transferred to the St. Marx Cemetery in Vienna. Mozart's name can be found both in the death record and in the cathedral's so-called Bahrleihbuch (death fee book), and his wedding to Constanze Weber (Nannerl) is also noted.
