Pilgerfahrt zu Beethoven II - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Pilgerfahrt zu Beethoven II

Visiting the contradictory universe of the "composer of the utopia": Florian Krumpöck and Wolfram Berger show Beethoven how he lived and lived. And just as Goethe saw him: "His talent amazed me; but he is unfortunately a very unruly personality, which is not wrong if it finds the world detestable, but of course it makes neither edible nor for others. "That Beethoven was a musical genius is undisputed. But in his pioneering compositions, his "unruly personality" breaks through again and again, so that a contemporary was forced to call the second symphony a "crass monster" that "struggles in vain".

For Florian Krumpöck, Beethoven is "the greatest revolutionist in music history"; a musician who not only explores boundaries, but also transcends them, on all levels: "Limits of form, of harmony, of dynamics, but also limits of the then pianistic possible as well as the piano construction of his time". Especially with regard to the Ninth Symphony, "in which for the first time the voice had to be integrated into this genre form, since all instrumental expression was no longer sufficient," Krumpöck describes Beethoven as a "composer of utopia".
