Claus Peymann liest "Meine Preise"

Thomas Bernhard's novel Holzfällen had barely appeared, when the book was confiscated in Austria on August 29, 1984 by court order and remained banned for weeks.

It was a Viennese literary critic who scented a "key novel" and incited a composer allegedly represented in this book to a lawsuit that was not withdrawn by him until February 1985. Who is portrayed in woodcuts with certainty, is the speaker of this ideally staffed reading evening: Claus Peymann, who at that time as future Burgtheater director already threw his shadow ahead - and Bernhard's blustering "Burgstuerrer" properly belied lies:

"I do not care who the new man comes to the house; he was always the same, he had survived ten or eleven Burgtheatredirektoren, said the castle actor, they are all gone, no one remembers even today to the names of these people. "Thomas Bernhard
