Per Arne Glorvigen / Apollon Musagète Quartet - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Per Arne Glorvigen / Apollon Musagète Quartet

The Polish Super Quartet is coming to Oslo on their way to an extensive USA tour. With them, they have "The American" String Quartet by Dvořák and Schubert's bold Quartet Rate - both considered one of the finest in the 19th-century string quartet repertoire.

The piece POLACO is an ordering work for string quartet and bandoneon from Apollon Musagète Quartet to Glorvigen. The main theme of the composition is Poland and Polish culture, but we also hear Polish culture's "relative" in Norway, Rørospolsen. Of course, the piece also contains a tango: "Tango Funèbre" - free after Chopin's mournful march. Polaco is the Spanish word for Polish, but is also a word of great importance to all tango lovers: It was the nickname of one of the most famous tango singers in history, Roberto "Polaco" Goyeneche. So maybe we will also hear some of the small, traditional Argentine tango that Goyeneche used to record during the concert.

The evening concludes with milonga and dancing in the foyer of the audience.
