Nabucco

Lyrical drama in four parts
Text: Temistocle Solera

Against the backdrop of the Israelites' Babylonian exile, the play tells the story of the Babylonian king Nabucco, who is only purified by a brief loss of power and grants freedom to the Hebrews he has imprisoned. On the other hand, it also deals with the private conflict between Nabucco's daughters: While Abigaille wants the throne at any price, Fenena has converted to Judaism out of love for the Israelite Ishmael.
