Musikalische Seelen- und Blutsverwandtschaften

Felix Mendelssohn was a highly respected musician of his time. Perhaps the only dark chapter is the suppression of the musical development possibilities of his sister Fanny. Now, of course, this is largely due to the time and their former practices. But Felix is only very late - almost too late! - accept the great talent of his sister and even promote it a little.

In addition to this kinship, the kinship between Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff characterizes this "relationship evening". Here the famous proverbial "Russian soul" becomes deeply felt. The fact that the two selected works belong together is also reflected in the fact that Rachmaninoff in his one-movement trio alludes directly to the first movement of the Tchaikovsky trio.
