How badly must a woman have been mentally injured if she breaks away from the husband she once loved and kills their children? Betrayed and deeply offended by her husband Jason, the rejected, despairing and hostile Medea takes revenge in this way. Aribert Reimann, one of the most important and sought-after composers of our time, creator of numerous successful music theater works, took on the Medea material and now wrote his own interpretation of this myth for the Vienna State Opera, following Grillparzer's version.
