Mammal Hands - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Mammal Hands

Mammal Hands are currently one of the most successful formations in the jazz scene. When saxophonist Jordan Smart and his brother, pianist Nick Smart, met drummer Jesse Barrett in 2012, all three were busking in remote Norwich, eastern England. The trio with the unusual name, which can now point to five successful studio albums, quickly carved out a path away from the musical mainstream. His programs are characterized by an independent sound that draws on influences such as spiritual jazz, electronica, Eastern European and Irish folklore, Indian and African music as well as minimal music by Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The three musicians, who now see themselves at a point “where playing and writing together sometimes feels almost telepathic,” will now also captivate the Dresden audience with the hypnotic pull of their music.
