Klarinettentrio - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Klarinettentrio
The cello has a very intimate relationship with the clarinet, but both instruments mix to a very special sound beauty. But there is another connecting element: The "ancestor" of the Bartolomey family of musicians, Franz Bartolomey I († 1920), was k. k. Court clarinetist in the direction of Gustav Mahler and founder of the Vienna Clarinet School as well as a close friend of Alexander Zemlinsky. He played regularly with the composer at the piano. Together, in 1896, they premiered that clarinet trio, which is also played in this Ménage à trois program. Matthias Schorn, trained at the Wiener Klarinettenschule and thus one of the original pupils of Franz Bartolomey's I, demonstrates this evening with Matthias Bartolomey as his great-grandchild lived tradition.
