Kantorow - Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra - Van Zweden - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Kantorow - Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra - Van Zweden
This special concert combines Western and Eastern musical perspectives. The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra - one of the best orchestras in Asia - under the direction of its chief conductor Jaap van Zweden, immerses itself in the sonorous worlds of its homeland with a new composition by Daniel Lo, and then with Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto - which many consider to be his most beautiful - to build the link to a brilliant European classic from the early 19th century. The soloist, the young French pianist Alexandre Kantorow, is one of the absolute shooting stars of the piano scene. The evening closes with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 9, premiered in 1945, one of his most popular works and at the same time a kind of musical reminder for peace.
