Juan Diego Florez - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Juan Diego Florez
At its first performance in Berlin in 1895, Mahler's second symphony – the first to include voices (soprano, contralto and chorus) – was conducted by the musician from Bohemia in person. A monumental and intensely emotional work containing allusions to his own life, it is seen as a symbol of hope in the afterlife, as the title reflects.
Few works could recall more eloquently how the Liceu itself rose from its ashes just twenty years ago and re-opened its doors with renewed hope in the future.
The Liceu's orchestra and chorus, under the experienced baton of Josep Pons, rise to meet the challenge.
Subject to change.
