With the violinist and artistic director of the Frauenkirche Daniel Hope and festival director and cellist Jan Vogler, two top musicians come together for a unique concert evening. They are accompanied by the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin under the direction of Anna Rakitina, who was born in Moscow in 1989 and is currently
one of the most exciting conductors of the younger generation. The first part of the concert is dedicated to famous film scores and their creators. The focus is on the highly romantic Sinfonia concertante for violin and cello by Miklós Rózsa, who became known for his compositions for cinematic classics such as “Quo vadis?” or “El Cid”. The work, which was created at the same time as the score of “Ben Hur,” sometimes breathes the epic spirit of his film scores and is rich in musical allusions to his Hungarian homeland. In the second part, the orchestra and conductor devote themselves to Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, a work that is at home in all concert halls around the world.
