Die Politiker - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Die Politiker
It is not for nothing that he is considered to be one of the most exciting voices in contemporary German-language drama. Wolfram Lotz's texts stimulate the brain and heart, turn reality upside down, interweave existential search for meaning with banalities, cleverly and boldly scour human existence - and keep the theater on its toes. "Wolfram Lotz does not serve the theater, he challenges it," said Wolfgang Kralicek in 2014 on the occasion of the Vienna premiere of DIE LÄCHERLICHE DARSTERNIS at the Akademietheater, "not because he distrusts the medium, on the contrary: he trusts the theater to do everything."
So it is certainly not surprising that Wolfram Lotz's new work, too, with relish and virtuosity, subverts all possible known frames. DIE POLITIKER is a cascade of words that starts the cycle. Blood pumps into a deadlocked political and social debate, into hardened fronts between resignation and challenge. The track title alone: DIE POLITIKER - add a simple exclamation mark, and you are * in the middle of the contemporary speech soundtrack.
Lotz takes the noise of the present and lets go of a poetic flood: thoughts, feelings, guesses, observations - about those who are elected and those who choose, about those who don't listen while accusing others of not listening to them, about loneliness , about expectations, about politics and private matters, about cats, elementary particles, cracks in the world and nothingness, about the ability, must, may, want, should. A composed choir of the present time, human history at the back. Again, everything at the beginning? Autumn 2021.
13 actors and two live musicians. And off.
Subject to changes.
