The Abduction from the Seraglio - Schedule, Program & Tickets

The Abduction from the Seraglio

A German Singspiel in three acts
Text by Johann Gottlieb Stephanie
after Christoph Friedrich Bretzner

Belmonte, in search of his fiancée, Konstanze, who has been kidnapped by pirates along with Blonde and her lover Pedrillo, arrives at the estate of Bassa Selim.

Selim has bought the three as slaves and has fallen in love with Konstanze. But she wants to remain faithful to Belmonte and would be willing to endure the torments threatened. A planned escape by Belmonte and the three prisoners fails. The Bassa recognizes in Belmonte, who is begging for mercy, the son of his sworn enemy, who once stole his lover and forced him to leave his homeland. But he grants everyone freedom: "If you can't win someone over with kindness, you have to get rid of them."
A woman in a striped suit and a red top hat stands in front of a man sitting on a chair.
A tattooed man wearing a red sash dramatically holds the chin of a person in a pink suit lying on their back over a chest.
