Der eingebildete Kranke - Premiere
"If you love me, you must want everything I want."
We whine. There is reason enough. Two people who meet, the wailing begins, a third comes along, a wailing trio, then a quartet, a quintet, a sextet ... a loud symphony of the big city, the aria of the solitary, civilized, modern man. And you can never have a disease all to yourself. And always so much responsibility and then so little thanks. When will someone finally take care of me! Then up again, off again, left, right, squats, vitamins, fresh air. - Depressions? Curtain up, sun in! It will be fine! Or? It's about time that time grabs its belt again.
The curtain goes up. Enter Argan. The incarnation of hypochondria, bearing the burden of the whole world on his pale shoulders. An exaggeration of ourselves. A cathartic creature that lets us heal from its imaginary diseases, simple as we are, an ideal victim for every health insurance and the entire drug industry, for every greedy fellow. Full of naivety in total denial. Every day an exercise in dying, every day another step towards the happiness of not being responsible for anything. And so: a suppression of others.
"And it's all between us. We can also each take on a role and play something to one another. Everything is allowed. Come and help prepare the hall quickly!”
The "imaginary sick person" was director Leander Haußmann's first major role during his acting studies. Molière played the title role himself in his last production and died in the middle of the fourth performance. The audience believed in a successful staging gag and had a great time. Love, illness, death - what makes this tale about a harassing and harassed patriarch over 350 years one of the best comedies in world literature? We will see. let's laugh
