Glistening leaves, a gnarly rooted forest, enchanting elves and a mischievous wood sprite – William Shakespeare’s „A Midsummer Night’s Dream“, set to music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and choreographed by Jorma Elo, had its world premiere at the Vienna State Opera in 2010 and was first performed at the Volksoper three years later to great acclaim. The production which in 2011 was awarded the “Oscar” of the ballet world, the Prix Benois de la Danse in Moscow, will now return to the Volksoper repertoire.
