Cyrano de Bergerac - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Cyrano de Bergerac

Cyrano is the greatest word artist in the regiment. His rhymes and improvised puns are of such power and beauty that no one can hold a candle to him - neither on stage nor in everyday life. He fearlessly takes on the most powerful men in Paris, and the city's entire art scene is at his feet. However, Cyrano has a problem: his nose is so large that he doesn't dare to confess his love to the smart Roxane. The new recruit Christian, on the other hand, is perfect on the outside, but rather average in poetry. Despite this, Roxane falls passionately in love with Christian and demands written proof of his love. In his distress, Christian gets help from Cyrano, who from now on writes love letters to Roxane in Christian's name.

British playwright Martin Crimp has written a new version of CYRANO DE BERGERAC, and his adaptation of Edmond Rostand's famous late 19th-century verse drama is linguistically spectacular and enriched with numerous influences from spoken word, hip-hop and contemporary discourse: rhyming throughout, sharp tongued and full of humor.
