Vienna has always been a melting pot for art and culture.

Composers and musicians also felt inspired here at various times and were very creative in this city.
Yes, it was inspiring... For example, W. A. Mozart felt freed from the “shackles” of Salzburg in Vienna and, of all places, created a large and important part of his work as an independent composer in Vienna.
But apart from Mozart: Vienna was also an exchange place for ideas and a pivotal point for new musical ideas from a wide range of artists and so it is not surprising that all three composers whose pieces are performed in this concert have a special, unique place with Vienna had connection.
For the three composers of this concert, Vienna was the city of musical dreams, a fertile ground for their inspiration.

Giovanni Paisiello was commissioned by Joseph II in Vienna to compose twelve symphonies and overtures and the opera Il Re Teodoro in Venezia and in 1784, interrupting his journey from Petersburg to Italy, he met Mozart for a meeting of colleagues in Vienna.

Johann Nepomuk Hummel was also minted in Vienna. Mozart took him into his household and gave him free lessons.
Back in Vienna from his concert tours as a piano virtuoso, he also took composition lessons with Johann Georg Albrechtsberger and Antonio Salieri. Not only did Hummel find happiness in his romantic marriage in Vienna, but he also met good musician friends such as Beethoven and Joseph Haydn during his “Vienna time”. On the latter's recommendation, he became his successor as concertmaster in 1804 and later, after Haydn's death in 1809, was appointed court conductor to Prince Nicholas II Esterházy.

Joseph Haydn is also entangled with Vienna and the aforementioned composers. In 1793, the art lover and inventor of the sonata form bought a house with a garden in Obere Windmühle, located to the west, very close to Vienna - at that time still the suburb of Gumpendorf, and created here in particular Christian music such as oratorios and masses and not to forget the imperial anthem, which was performed on his birthday in 1797 by Emperor Franz II was premiered in the Burgtheater on Vienna's Michaelerplatz.
Haydn's compositional practice influenced many artists.
Haydn was able to retain the childish rogue in him and thus had a slight, naive, humorous character, to which was added the sharp musical and well-educated part. This enabled Haydn to be extremely creative for posterity.

Today, Vienna is still the center of the performance of the finest classical music at the highest level. This beautiful tradition has been preserved and makes the hearts of many visitors to Vienna and the locals beat faster!

A few of these created compositional treasures will be presented at our concert on Friday, May 10th at 7:30 p.m. in the Ehrbarsaal.
The outstanding musicians of the Nuova Orchestra A. Scarlatti di Napoli with the world-famous conductor Milan Turkovic and the principal bassoonist Patrick De Ritis are intended to draw attention to our beautiful city of Vienna and raise awareness of its extraordinary beauty, history and musical atmosphere.
And who knows, maybe you'll go on a nighttime walk, humming one of these melodies, across the spring-like Naschmarkt to the May-scented Karlsplatz, further along the cheerful Kärntner Straße to the awe-inspiring St. Stephen's Cathedral into the weekend and feel a soulful feeling that this beautiful city is your hometown to be able to name...
