Carmina Burana - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Carmina Burana

Scenic cantata in the original languages with Hungarian and English assortments
O Fortuna. Everyone knows the overwhelmingly powerful opening motifs of Carl Orff's most famous work. Less know that Carmina Burana was not intended to be an oratorio work, but was specifically intended for the stage. This becomes clear from the (originally Latin) subtitle of the piece: "Secular songs for singers and choir to sing along with instruments and magical images."
In the course of his multiple conducting, Tibor Bogányi gradually developed a vision for a staged version. For the three soloists, the three dancers of the Hungarian National Ballet and the monumental 120-member choir on the stage of the Erkel Theater, the creators have come up with a breathtaking spectacle in which the 3D “magic images” are brought to life on six projection displays and LED walls.

Before the show, the Order of Early Music by Bordó Sárkány will perform to get the audience in the mood and tune in to medieval melodies.

We would like to point out that we occasionally use lighting effects that may be distracting or overly bright for some viewers.
