Carmina Austriaca 2019 - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Carmina Austriaca 2019
With the "Carmina Austriaca", the Austrian counterpart to Carl Orff's famous "Carmina Burana", the Vienna Boys Choir celebrate the medieval songs. Texts by well-known poets such as Walther von der Vogelweide, Neidhart von Reuenthal and Oswald von Wolkenstein have been selected by the music historian and author Michael Korth and carefully transcribed into today's language; The rousing melodies of that time were rearranged by the composer and artistic director of the Vienna Boys' Choir Gerald Wirth.
The world premiere of "Carmina Austriaca" was commissioned by the Province of Lower Austria for the tenth anniversary of the Grafenegg Festival. In the MuTh the work is - after the great success of the previous year - again in the chamber music version with a gripping dance performance to see. The choreography was developed by Irina Pauls.
