Batiashvili – Philadelphia Orchestra – Nézet-Séguin - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Batiashvili – Philadelphia Orchestra – Nézet-Séguin
With the Philadelphia Orchestra, another top US orchestra is making a guest appearance at the music festival. The fact that the chemistry between the orchestra and its boss Yannick Nézet-Séguin is just right is shown by acclaimed performances in the USA and on international concert stages as well as award-winning joint recordings. As a soloist, star violinist Lisa Batiashvili will shine with two colorful works: In addition to Karol Szymanowski's virtuoso violin concerto, which shimmers with fascinating nuances, the »Poème« for violin and orchestra will be heard, probably the best-known composition by the French Ernest Chausson, to which he was inspired by a novella by the Russian poet Ivan Turgenev was inspired. Antonín Dvořák's Seventh Symphony, which premiered with great success in London in 1885 and shares the key of D minor and the pathetically sublime character with Beethoven's Ninth, concludes this concert evening.
