Bánk bán - Schedule, Program & Tickets

Bánk bán

In 1844, after the victory of Ferenc Erkel in the competition for the Kölcsey's Anthem, József Katona began to deal with her drama as a possible opera. History was a long time for composing: before the censorship of the War of Independence and the subsequent dictatorship, it had to wait until 9 March 1861 for the audience to come to the National Theater at that time. The special feature of Opera's new production is that Bánk, who always keeps his success as a result of high-quality additions and revisions, is making a new version of the baroque version of Imre Palló's shape / voice, which was supported by Zoltán Kodály.
Attila Vidnyánszky, former chief director of the Hungarian State Opera House, today director of the National Theater will return to the institution after ten years.
