9th Symphony Concert - Schedule, Program & Tickets
9th Symphony Concert
Susanna Mälkki conductor
George Frideric Haas
New work for orchestra (world premiere)
Franz Schubert
Symphony in C major D 944 »Great«
»meaning everywhere«
Hardly any composer is closer to the Capell composer Georg Friedrich Haas than Franz Schubert, whose music repeatedly explored new areas of expression. It is therefore only logical that, in her debut with the Staatskapelle, Susanna Mälkki contrasts Schubert’s longest and most ambitious symphony with the premiere of Haas’ new orchestral work, which was written especially for the Kapell’s anniversary. "Life in all fibers, color down to the finest gradation, meaning everywhere," said an enthusiastic Robert Schumann when - eleven years after Schubert's death - it was first heard in a concert in Leipzig.
Introduction to the concert 45 minutes before the start in the opera cellar of the Semperoper.
