Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Symphony No. 41 in C major K. 551 »Jupiter«

CONCLUSION AND BEGINNING
Mozart's C major symphony from 1788 with the much later title »Jupiter« has a special aura: written down in just a few days, it is both a conclusion and a beginning. As the last symphony of the Viennese classic, it summarizes personal experiences and central elements of the genre. In addition, it is also the first monumental work of that line of tradition that will define the 19th century. The finale is no longer a lively ending, but the goal of a long process - achieved through five melodic figures that Mozart introduces one after the other and artfully layers one on top of the other at the end.

Introduction to the concert 45 minutes before the start in the opera cellar of the Semperoper.
