In 1971, the best classical musicians from all of Vienna's major orchestral associations joined forces to form the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra under the direction of Gert Hofbauer.

Their declared aim is to cultivate Viennese waltz and operetta music and to bring it to the world. Domestic and foreign radio and television productions, international engagements at symphonic concerts and recordings have made the orchestra well-known and famous.

Strauss & Mozart concerts

The world-famous melodies of Mozart and waltzes by Strauss have their origins in Vienna. They are as much a part of this beautiful city as St. Stephen's Cathedral or the wine tavern and are both its cultural heritage and its landmark.

In its Strauss & Mozart concerts, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra presents the most popular compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Strauss family. They are joined by works by Emmerich Kalman and Franz Lehar.
