Julian Rachlin, violin and conductor
Bamberg Symphony Orchestra

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major K. 216
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 36 in C major K. 425 "Linzer"
Robert Schumann: Symphony No. 4 in D minor op. 120

The Bamberg Symphony Orchestra is a wonderfully special case: the historical roots of this special orchestra, which has borne the additional name "Bavarian State Philharmonic Orchestra" since 2003, lie in Prague, among other places, from where German-speaking musicians were expelled after the Second World War. In their new homeland, they have come together again - and merged Bohemian and German musical traditions. A program with music by Robert Schumann, among others, is part of Bamberg's core repertoire, freshly prepared for HERBSTGOLD together with Julian Rachlin in the dual role of soloist and conductor. In Schumann's gripping, magnificent Fourth Symphony, the light and cheerfulness of the world ultimately triumph over brooding loneliness.
