Founded in 2022 by students of the Vienna University of Music, the Motus Quartet has already made a name for itself in a short space of time - with various prizes and awards as well as acclaimed performances at home and abroad. In the Empire Hall of Esterházy Palace, the four young musicians now present a magnificent program consisting of three milestones of the genre. Joseph Haydn once raised the string quartet to a new level of musical artistry with the half-dozen of his Opus 20. Half a century later, Ludwig van Beethoven opened the gates to modernity in his late string quartets - gates that for a long time hardly anyone wanted to pass through. Béla Bartók, for example, dared to do so. A matinee dedicated to breathtaking innovations.
