Paris, Montmartre - the district of bohemians, artists and dreamers. Emmerich Kálmán's enchanting operetta DAS VEILCHEN VOM MONTMARTRE, which premiered in Vienna in 1930, is set among ateliers, cafés and small stages. It is the composer's last operetta, a work between nostalgia and new beginnings, between Viennese waltz bliss and the pulsating rhythm of the Parisian revue. At the center is Violetta, a young girl with a big heart and even bigger talent. She works as a domestic help in the artistic scene of Montmartre - until life itself leads her onto the stage. The simple servant becomes a celebrated actress, a woman who fights for her love and asserts herself. And because it is a genuine Kálmán operetta, there is of course a surprising twist at the end: The "little violet" turns out to be the daughter of a countess - and nothing stands in the way of love.

Kálmán's music paints a loving portrait of Parisian bohemia: lively, melancholy, full of humor and emotion. Between waltz, foxtrot and chanson, a world unfolds that celebrates life - with all its highs, lows and hopes. The evergreen "Heut Nacht hab' ich geträumt von dir" has become a symbol of this longing for love and happiness that transcends all social boundaries. In this special adaptation for the Baden stage, Kálmán's operetta is presented in an intimate, reimagined version in the Max Reinhardt Foyer - very close to the audience, charming, playful and with a special focus on the characters and their dreams. DAS VEILCHEN VOM MONTMARTRE is a tribute to dreaming - and to the power of art to create great stories from humble beginnings.
