Ungeduld des Herzens - schedule, program & buy tickets

Adapted by Jan Bosse and Lena Wontorra

Young Lieutenant Anton Hofmiller meets Edith Kekesfalva at a dinner party and asks her to dance, without first realizing that she is paralyzed. His sense of guilt for having put the young woman in this situation unwittingly binds him to Edith and leads to a mutually dependent relationship in which it becomes increasingly unclear who actually feels what.
Stefan Zweig’s novel, published in 1939, masterfully and emotionally grippingly portrays—through the inner turmoil of the young Hofmiller—people’s search for meaning in Austria-Hungary shortly before the outbreak of World War I.
