Merlin oder das wüste Land - schedule, program & buy tickets

Once upon a time, there was a wizard named Merlin who was destined to lead humanity into evil. But he defied his mission and crowned Arthur king, so that he might establish the Round Table, a place of equality where justice would prevail. But this utopia began to crumble when the Knights of the Round Table turned against one another amid power struggles, betrayal, and sordid affairs, and the new generation—embodied by Sir Mordred—ultimately called all previous moral standards into question...

Drawing on the epic tale of Merlin, King Arthur, and the Round Table, Tankred Dorst and Ursula Ehler tell a fairy tale about the failure of utopias in this play, completed in 1980. … And if they haven’t died, then they are still searching for the good in the world today.
