Hotel Savoy - schedule, program & buy tickets

In Joseph Roth’s 1924 novel *Hotel Savoy*, the hotel of the same name becomes a microcosm of a Europe in ruins after World War I. It is a place of extreme social contrasts: luxury on the lower floors, misery in the attic. Joseph Roth paints a fascinating, uncompromising picture of homelessness, postwar chaos, and social upheaval, culminating in a symbolic fire. Following the successful production *HOLZFÄLLEN*, Nicholas Ofczarek and the Musicbanda Franui bring to the stage an adaptation of Roth’s text, interwoven with operetta hits from the period between 1900 and 1935. In this new interpretation, lurking behind every cheerful melody are the abysses, the catastrophes, and the tragedies.
