In 1987, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien breathed new life into the Ronacher, which had gradually fallen into obscurity. Alongside the Raimund Theater, it is now considered the premier venue for major musicals in Vienna and is one of the “gems” of Vienna’s theater scene. A gentle renovation in 1993 was followed by a comprehensive functional renovation from 2005 to 2008. As a result, the Ronacher—equipped with state-of-the-art technology—presents itself as an attractive venue for urban musical theater. The Ronacher has been certified with the Austrian Ecolabel since 2025.
