Synopsis:

Don Alfonso explains to Guglielmo and Ferrando that it's quite possible that their fiancées, Dorabella and Fiordiligi, could be unfaithful—like all women.

A bet is made, and Don Alfonso hires Despina, Fiordiligi and Dorabella's employee, as an assistant in the scheme. In disguise, the men eventually succeed in seducing each other's fiancées. After Don Alfonso and Despina resolve the intrigue, it's up to the four young lovers to deal with the consequences of the story.
