In 1971, the best classical musicians from all of Vienna's major orchestral associations joined forces to form the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra under the direction of Gert Hofbauer.
Their declared aim is to cultivate Viennese waltz and operetta music and to bring it to the world. Domestic and foreign radio and television productions, international engagements at symphonic concerts and recordings have made the orchestra well-known and famous.
Christmas Concerts
The Christmas concerts of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra have a long and successful tradition in Vienna's cultural scene.
The most beautiful compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Strauss and Emmerich Kalman are presented in the ballroom of the Vienna Hofburg.
