In 1971, the best classical musicians from all of Vienna's major orchestral associations joined forces to form the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra under the direction of Gert Hofbauer.
Their declared aim is to cultivate Viennese waltz and operetta music and to bring it to the world. Domestic and foreign radio and television productions, international engagements at symphonic concerts and recordings have made the orchestra well-known and famous.

A New Year's concert in Vienna, the world capital of music!
Since 1980, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra has been celebrating the turn of the year with its guests with the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss family. The program is rounded off with arias, duets and quartets by four renowned opera singers.
